In his role as an M&A Expert Bram provides support during mergers and acquisitions with SMEs. "We are called in at crucial moments in the life of a business: when they wish to sell out for instance, but also when they are about to launch an ambitious growth plan and are in need of finance", explains Bram. "A take-over isn't really an end point, in fact it is the start of a new chapter, and one we would like to help to write."
Corporate Finance is something of an odd man out in the Moore Stephens organisation. Their office in Mechelen often works with clients who have no historical connection with Moore Stephens. "In order to successfully carry out our assignments we generally work in close collaboration with our client's accountants, auditors, tax specialists and lawyers", Bram explains. "Chinese walls provide the necessary confidentiality."
"The people I deal with are entrepreneurs like me. They are looking for the best solution for their clients, they are expanding their range of services and carrying out their ongoing projects with a sense of vision."
It has also struck me how people are given opportunities to develop beyond their own narrow specialism, and how they seize such opportunities.
"As well as the drive for innovation in a rapidly changing legal and fiscal landscape, I have also discovered added human value there, which is equally important. A consultant who is comfortable in his skin in his private life will also perform well at work." Bram recently took part in the residential seminar: "It's clear I have joined an enterprising family", he says. "I get a warm glow when I think about the spirit of unity here."
