During the final year of his degree in Accountancy and Tax Law Pieter had a placement with Moore Stephens at our office in Meise. "The high level of motivation in the office was evident even in the first phone conversation", he recalls. "I had the opportunity to do a lot of interesting work during the placement, and the team were always ready to answer any questions I had.
Moore Stephens really do invest a lot of time in staff on placement, and they are provided with plenty of learning opportunities. Of course there is a hierarchy, but there are no high walls here.
Having graduated in 2012 Pieter went straight to work in Meise as an Accountancy Officer. That office now falls under the key centre in Brussels. "I found myself in a very tight-knit group. The group is larger now, but our relationships remain sound thanks to our many joint activities. Moore Stephens people tend to be very sociable."
Pieter is currently developing a specialism in tax law and is pursuing evening classes in the subject. Moore Stephens have paid the registration fees for the course, but what Pieter finds more significant is the way he is able to put what he learns into practice. "As well as benefiting from the flexibility that allows me to combine work and study, I am also immediately able to put my lessons into practical effect. The managers and directors have also been very much open to my ideas, understanding the importance of innovative expertise. They really appreciate it if your training allows you to provide them with tips and suggestions."
Pieter believes that further specialisation is the logical way forward for him. "All specialists within Moore Stephens support one another so that together we are able to deliver the best possible service to our clients in a diverse range of sectors. One day I can be working for a school, the next day for a transport business, and the day after that for a management company: it's that kind of variety that makes my work so interesting."
